Help Sponsor Queerport 2020

Over 40 artists, musicians, poets, vendors, creators, and performers came together under one roof on June 22, 2019 for the queerest day Shreveport, Louisiana has seen in a long, long time (or maybe ever!). Hugs were given. Friends were made. Family was created. We saw babes in their parents' arms and grandparents, mothers, sisters — blood and chosen. We celebrated alongside each and every person who walked through the doors... But this year we are asking for YOUR help! QUEERPORT 2020 is returning to Earth on June 20 and we are back at minicine? for a full day of queer activities for all ages. We pulled off this event with a lot of hope, a little money and a lot of love. One thing we were unable to do last year was paying our entertainment. We used our grant to pay for security, and the money raised from vendors went into online advertising, space rental, and paying for our marketplace sponsor's travel. We aim to be as transparent as possible, and we want each and every person to know where their money is going. This year we would like $1000 for the following: 1. pay for our headling musicians and drag entertainers 2. help with making copies, flyers, etc. 3. padding for emergencies QUEERPORT is not just an event, it’s a movement. And it’s not just one day, it’s every day. We live in QUEERPORT. But our flagship event is the BIGGEST festival we put together to honor our queer families and the culture we're creating. We just want to be able to give our community more, and we know through your donations we can. That's why we want this event to ALWAYS BE FREE because it's important that EVERYONE can access it.  Our allies consistently ask how they can help, and this is it. Whether it's a dollar, ten bucks or $100, we'll take it. And we'll thank you for it. EVERY contribution matters.

QUEERPORT was designed to give queer creators a platform to express themselves. Paired with our blog, our goal is to bring together queer creatives in the south, specifically in northwest Louisiana. We aspire to empower queer youth and give them alternative resources and programming, offering events and workshops throughout the year. Our longterm mission is to build our city’s first LGBTQIA+ arts and resource center. We can’t wait to see what you create with us. Keep an eye on queerport.org to stay in the know.
